Amanda is an avid collector of the discarded and ‘spent’. She is also interested in Archaeology, Geology, Conservation, Contemporary Dance, Alchemy, Buddhism, Mysticism and the Healing Arts. Themes exploring repetition, imitation, absence/presence, illness, death, dreams, skewed and fading memories and unlived lives intrigue her.
As a collector of found objects and images Amanda delights in cataloguing and archiving, collections in-turn become rich source material. Additional materials of wax, glass, thread, soil, water, light, and Letraset are used to produce a range of artworks ranging from small scale sculptures to wall-hung assemblages and installations.
Amanda is currently investigating the use of film as a way of capturing the fleeting, the half-glimpsed, and the half-remembered.
